This is most certainly the last post for this blog. I quit trading this late summer basically. Since about May the markets where not the same, atleast for me something had changed. I don't know if the merger with Paddy Power had something to do with it but I noticed something after May, that the markets wasn't the same. For some this maybe haven't been a problem but I didn't find spots as I used to. My motivation for trading sports pretty much dried up as well. So I felt it was time to do something else.
You might wonder what my next adventure is? I've decided to try to learn a new game. And thats the stock exchange game. I've been grinding the Stockholm exchange roughly the last 2 months. My goal is to be breakeven for the first 6 months and anything better is just a bonus. Its a totally different beast the stock exchange compared to the sports exchange. But it's a lot of fun and I'm learning a lot of new things. We will see how it goes. =)
Anyways, thanks to everyone that read and commented this blog. I still think there is some good information in the blog for new traders to read. So just go through it you might find some interesting stuff.
Thanks again and the best of luck!
Stay Sharp! /Sammy
Thanks Buddy! And good luck to you too!
ReplyDeleteHi. What is the reason? Liquidity or something else? Good luck in Your new journey.
ReplyDeleteLiquidity mainly. I think the addition with ITF and Challenger tour got money to scattered between all the different markets. There if probably plenty of edge out there still. GL
DeleteHi Sammy,
ReplyDeletewhat are you doing exactly...day trading in stocks or future and options trading??
My plan is to trade both. Been focusing mainly on stocks to begin with but looking into futures now aswell. Just gonna trade intraday on the swedish stock exchange and maybe DAX.
DeleteHello Sammy,
ReplyDeleteDo you think that trading the stock exchange will give you a better work/life balance than trading sports now that you have a little one to look after? I saw in earlier post that you said that you were working 10 - 12 hours a day grinding the tennis markets which can't be great for your health or social life?!
My friend and I were debating whether to enter forex or sports markets as potential future careers and the pros and cons of each. My friend loves sports, but we already work weekends in our jobs, stated that we would have to work weekends even more and be at the mercy of the weather and the schedules of organisers if we attempted to become betfair traders. Whilst you can decide when you want to trade with stock, shares and forex as the markets are open at least 10 hours per day or even more in forex.
Any tips to get started in the stock market?

Good Question!
DeleteIm gonna start rambling whats in my mind hopefully there will be something you can take from this.
Ill start off with the standard answer "it depends", as it surely does. But ill try to expand a bit.
So I just can tell you my story. I found sports trading very liberating compared to grinding poker. Highest EV spots is fridays-sundays when playing poker. But for me trading tennis was great cause I focused a lot on the early stages of tennis tournaments mondays-fridays cause the majority of matches was played at those days. Sure i was grinding many hours during those days but it somewhat compared to a normal 8-5 job. But working from home there is no travel time. So 10 hours is probably not an issue in that sense.
Forex is probably really awkward. Having none experience trading forex but its a 24h market from what I've read and so on. To be in the higher percentile of successful people trading it, I would guess its pretty demanding and very stressful to cover different timezones to find the best spots for trades.
To give you some advise how I would approach the sports market. id probably outline what kind of sports you want to trade and what time frame the bulk of the matches are played. For example i reckon football is weekends and during the weeks (monday-friday) its usually pretty late 7-9 pm. For me this is pretty much a turn off. Trading horses could be great cause i think they run from 1-3pm to about 6-7pm? After awhile you might be able to cut the weekends and so on. So before you decide what route to go you should probably have a look into what sport you want to focus on. Cause time differs a lot among the various sports.
I hope you had a great christmas and a soon a happy new year

About the stockmarket I don't really know how much other stock markets differs from the stockhlom stock exchange. I figure quite a bit due to sweden being a small market in that sense. Touch base with me in a couple of months maybe ill have some better insight to the stock markets.
DeleteThank you fo your response Sammy.
ReplyDeleteYour story tells me that there is no such thing as a free lunch. To make it to the top, you have to dedicate yourself to the profession or market you have choosen, then you can scale back once you are successful. If we all had our dream scenario then we would all work 3 or 4 hours a day trading then go on with the rest of our lives. However, I heard that even the best stock traders eg Tim Sykes spends 40 - 80 hours a week researching and trading so everyone has to work for it.
My friend and I have decided to check out sports and the timings of events on betfair plus, stocks, options and forex markets. I am not sure if it will be possible to complete betfair and another exchange market simutaneously, especially with the potential for burnout, but they do say nothing ventured nothing gained.
I will touch base with you in a couple of months, as I will have some experience of the stock markets so I will understand your insights

wtf! Very sad news. :(
ReplyDeleteHowever, forex trading success isn't a two dimensional thing consisting only of your trading account and a trading system. In reality, it's a multi-dimensional thing that encompasses you not just as a trader but as a complete person. To know more take a tour Usa Forex Signals

Among the good examples of trading is the trader Adriano Aaron Caruso, a man who has had a very professional job since his beginnings, which has made him one of the most successful in the market. He conducted studies through market trips to Russia and Norway such as RUB and NOK, where he became fully interested in knowing the political, economic, cultural and sociological factors influencing the less globally recognized currencies. Later in 2002 took place its largest moose where thanks to his work he was sought by potential companies, whose proposals he decided to reject. Currently he is one of the most expert traders in exotic pairs, not only trading but also working as an automatic service designer for the currency pair in which he specializes, being one of the most effective that can be found in the market.
